J’ouvert Bands
Before the sun even peeks over the horizon, J’ouvert Bands turn sleepy streets into a neon playground. You grab your band T-shirt or swimwear, fuel up on breakfast and rum punch, then hit the road as thumping steelpan and soca ignite the air. As dawn creeps closer, everyone’s armed with cans of vibrant spray paint and handfuls of colored powder—transforming bodies and pavement into living art. It’s a heady collision of centuries-old ritual and full-throttle mayhem that sets Carnival’s pulse racing.

Night Mas Bands
Parade of the Bands is Tobago Carnival’s grand daytime showcase, lighting up the streets with bursts of color and creativity.
Kicking off mid-morning, each band of masqueraders—decked out in elaborate, themed costumes—winds its way along a festive route lined with cheering crowds. Steelpan choruses and pounding soca sound systems set the pace, while dancers bring every costume to life with high-energy moves and non-stop joy.
This is the moment when Tobago’s artistry shines: feathers, sequins, and handcrafted details tell stories of our island’s heritage and imagination.
